This morning's news that two Americans infected with Ebola in Liberia will be traveling to Atlanta for treatment, coupled with the recent death of an American health worker in Nigeria, has brought global attention to the outbreak that has plagued West Africa since early this year.

Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leon all continue to see rising numbers of cases and deaths, with Sierra Leon experiencing a particularly rapid rate of infection. Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organization called the epidemic an "unprecedented outbreak."
