Rising summer temperatures and increased risk of communicable disease are fueling concerns about the increasingly chaotic refugee situation in Iraq.

Recently released data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), shows a vast and sprawling number of Iraqis displaced from their homes -- many due to the US invasion over a decade ago, and others as the result of recent IS (formerly ISIS) attacks throughout the country. When we compare this data about Internally Displaced Persons (often referred to as IDPs) from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), we get a more complete picture of the size and location refugees throughout the country.
